CESA

The Civil Engineering Association (CESA) was formed with the primary aim of exposing potential civil engineers to the challenges of the profession. With both students and faculty as its members, the organization is one of the most active Civil Engineering Associations. Civil Engineering Students Association is a non-registered, non-profit organization within the department of Civil Engineering .CESA organizes activities like educational field trips in the state and out of the state of Goa, lectures by professionals and distinguished practitioners in the field , video are shown on latest technologies in the world , competitions and socially relevant projects for the students throughout the year. Through CESA the department of Civil Engineering builds a bridge for lively interaction between the students and industry. CESA provides a platform to showcase and sharpen student’s talents through a variety of events and activities planned throughout the year.

CESA Report :  Installation of CESA Council 2022-2023 

The installation ceremony of the CESA (Civil Engineering Student Association) council for the batch of 2022-23 took place on  September 9, 2022 at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda Goa. The host Mr. Rohan Veigas addressed the gathering by introducing  the Chief Guest – Engineer Mr. Ritesh Singh (National Business Development Manager, sealing and bonding and also the regional sales head for Maharashtra and Goa and working at chemical company-SIKA India Pvt. Ltd), Guest of Honor- Dr. Yogini Deshpande (Renuka Consultancy, Technical Director O P  Jindal University, Chair professor of Civil Engineering Department.), Director- Rev.Fr. Kinley D’cruz, Principal- Dr.Neena Panandikar, Registrar – Dr.Kala Nayak and Head Of Department of Civil engineering- Dr. Shwetha Prasanna. The ceremony continued by lighting of the lamp and as the outgoing Chairman Mr. Gul Ahmed Sheikh  shared his experience with the audience. The gathering was then addressed by Dr. Shwetha Prasanna who briefed about the activities headed by the previous council.

In the later half, Mrs. Shruti Jambhale introduced the newly elected CESA Council members to the gathering.

The installation process was later followed by 2 technical presentations. The first presentation was given by Engineer Ritesh Singh who spoke on the theme: Edging towards a connected future. He introduced solutions to challenges at construction sites through construction chemicals. He introduced the existing technologies like:  self-healing concrete, concrete roads which can charge electric vehicles, robotic construction/3D printing, structural strengthening, etc.  He also introduced SIKA’s researched and developed products like SIKA CARBODUR and SIKAWRAP SYSTEM(for strengthening beams, slabs ,columns),SIKA SOLUTIONS FOR PRECAST CONSTRUCTION, SIKA SOLUTIONS: JOINTS AND CONNECTION IN PRECAST

Later,  Engineer Atul Vaidya (waterproofing expert) explained about waterproofing admix: waterproofing additive-power/liquid and crystalline additives and coatings, waterproofing mortars: cementious acrylic coating and crystalline coatings ,pre-formed membranes: EPDM/PVC/TPO/APP/SBS, Liquid applied membrane which in turn is divided into may sub-sections and waterproofing application: re-roofing, metal row waterproofing, concealed waterproofing etc. their characteristics, advantages, general system built-up etc, requirements for waterproofing  systems, physical parameters, surface preparation and application.
